AP7920 Firmware Upgrade Via Serial

Hi all

I have an issue upgrading an AP7920 unit via serial using HyperTerminal (XMODEM_CRC).

I'm just trying to rule out a faulty firmware, but the issue is the NIC.
The NIC status light on the unit is green but the link to the switch is dead (no activity).
I've tried other Ethernet cables to no avail.

After following the instructions in this doco http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z6KAV/ASTE-6Z6KAV_R1_EN.pdf?sdirect=true (page 6), after choosing apc_hw02_aos_374.bin for the transfer the session times out.

When I reconnect to try again it states "The result of the last file transfer is : Server access denied"

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Hi Philip,

wink no problem. Yes, do the AOS (operating sytem) 3.7.4 file first, the PDU will finish and reboot its network interface. Then you'll need to log in again and do the rpdu 3.7.4 file (application) and the PDU will reboot its network interface after that one too and then you'll be all set.

Can you confirm what username/password you used to log in? Is it definitely the administrator account? When you log in, on the top right it will tell you User: Administrator above where you see P+ N+ A+ That is my first thought is that the user account you're using is not allowed to upgrade firmware possibly.

And too, when you selected XMODEM as the transfer protocol, accidentally scrolling on the drop down list didn't change it to ZMODEM or anything?

Hi Angela

With it being Friday I was using ZModem 😞 not X as I stated, it's transferring slowly but surely now.

Just to be sure, do both apc_hw02_aos_374.bin and apc_hw02_rpdu_374.bin need flashing?

Thanks for your quick reply.
