Hi all,
I'm sitting here trying to get stuff like DNS servers, NTP configuration etc out via SNMPv1 from these boxes but it does not seem that APC has chosen to include this. Is there any way to get this data out from the boxes?
My use case is having a monitoring system query the data and compare against a desired state database to check whether values are correct/incorrect and then do that on fixed interval.
Update since posting
Downloaded the EVAL of Data Center Expert to see if that could do some magic. And while I can configure it through DCE, there is no way to easily query the data. Even DCE doesn't see the data - you have to enter the configuration workflow and download the config before it can see it. Doesn't seem that usable.

Not sure I see the value in doing this if hardware is properly monitored by a NMS.
I have never seen a APC Network Device ever lose the DNS / NTP settings - once set.
If the system is reachable via FQDN and is able to send email alerts. DNS is obviously correct and is capable of resolving.
As it relates to NTP once defined to a local / outbound NTP server / pool. It just works and the time stamps are always rock solid and correct.
This seems more of a make work project that adds very little value to the operational health of the system. 🤦♂️
As stated any NMS properly configured will provide more insight about the behaviour, operational status, and long term historical events.
Both DNS / NTP are static settings which never change in the box. If you’re seeing problems with both it’s more likely a network related issue! ☝️
A perfect example is NTP as it relates to time keeping. The vast majority of people use third party services which at a high level makes sense.
But, doing so opens up several failure points and issues. The major problem is the reliance on a Internet connection. Next the target NTP is reliant on multiple hops and a thousand things that can go wrong such as being black listed.
As such using a local NTP Server removes all of these issues and problems as there is no reliance on the Internet, Black Listing, Multiple Hops, etc.
