9619 output realy

This was originally posted on APC forums on 9/25/2008

I would like to use the output realy of the 9619 management card to control an external device based on alarm conditions from the UPS. I can see and understand the options in the software for controlling this, but my question is on the physical side. It would appear that you need some sort of bracket/cable thing to connect to the pins on the back of the 9619. Also, I'm not sure which of the pins to use for the output relay. has anyone actually set up the output relay or input contacts on any of the management cards? I'm looking for any help I can get.

Thanks

So I just pull the blue part off, attach wires to it, and snap it back on?

Thang,

The Current capacity of relay contacts: 1 A @ 30 V AC/DC (for AP9618 and AP9619 only)
+12 VDC output: 25 mA maximum current (for AP9618 and AP9619
only)

More information can be found on the page # 21 in the below link:

Thank you, but can you be a little more specific? Since I'm not really an electrician.
I'm confusing between the 1A at 30 V AC/DC and the 12 VDC at 25 mA.
Can I use 24 vDC?
Thanks again

Thang,

Here is what I got for you:

You can pass up to 30 V through it. However, you need to make sure that your equipment can handle it on the other end and your resistance is set up correctly.

So answer to your question is that you can use 24 V and the card can provide up to 12 V if you need it to. However, I recommend you to have someone who has an experience to wire this as to not damage the card or equipment.

This was designed like this for a reason - it's a lot easier to wire the blue terminal piece and pop it back into the card. The alternative would be trying to wire the card directly while installed in the UPS, which could lead to you accidentally yanking the card out or becoming very frustrated while laying on the floor with a mini screwdriver 😉

you first need to decide if your relay is going to be normally open or normally closed. for the output, once you device, then wire up to NO or NC and COM. i dont think you should need to use the other connections on the output.

The card comes with an attachment piece that sticks out of the unit. You insert the wire and tighten a screw to secure the contact. There is a picture of it below.
