i am trying to configure a network card on a 3000XL. i added the arp entry to the computer but the card does not respond when i ping it. any thoughts? network connectivity is fine, and the mac address was double checked.

Hi,
Below is the information from our knowledge base, [Article ID 3061|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3061]
Open up a command prompt and type the following (replacing
Arp
(MacAddress format: xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx)
On Mac OS X: sudo
Next, use Ping with a size of 113 bytes to assign the IP address defined by the ARP command.
For the IP address defined in step 1, use one of the following Ping commands:
Windows command format: ping
LINUX and Mac OS X command format: ping
Now, you can Telnet to the card by typing: Telnet
Use "apc" for username and password.
The biggest road block I commonly see is missing the 113 packet size specification in the ping command (which I made bold above). This is essential in getting the procedure to work.
Did you make sure you specified the switch -L or -S (depending on OS you are using) and 113 packet size noted above?

i properly did the static arp entry, and did add the -l switch and 113 byte packet size when i pinged it.
I shut the ups down, unplugged the battery and AC power, powered it back up, hit the reset button on the card, and then it worked.
