We have some issues with the KNX/DALI gw MTN6725-0001 firmware 1.2.0 in combination with Philips Xtanium LED panels. Control works fine for a while (sometimes weeks) but then dimming stops working. Also we can no longer connect via ETS plug-in to the DALI gw. When we reload the application or cut the power, everything works fine again. Any suggestions ? Does anyone have experience with a DALI analyser ? In attachment you can find the datasheet for the LED panel.

Hello Hannes
We had some problems with Philips Xitanium ballasts in the past. These problems were related to addressing the LED drivers. Once they received a DALI short address it was not possible to modify this address. Philips is expecting a special procedure for doing this (which BTW is not according to DALI standard).
Nevertheless we modified the firmware of the KNX DALI Gateway and this is now supported. This installation contains several thousand of these Philips Xitanium LED drivers (but is different type that used in your project). The installation is working properly now for several months.
Two times we saw thermal problems of ballasts (from different manufacturers) that were mounted in a false ceiling without ventilation. Ballasts could not be controlled. Only after reset of the ballasts the installation worked again.
Are you resetting the KNX DALI Gateway only? Or do you have as well to reset the ballasts? You mentioned that after download of the application everything works fine. I wonder that before you couldn't communicate with ETS but it seems you are able to download the application. Do I understand correctly that only donwnload of application (without resetting KNX DALI Gateway or LED drivers) makes it work again?

Hello Heribert,
The integrator suspects that when he did the application download, the installer powered down/up the DALI gateway before he arrived.
So, sometimes only powering down/up the DALI gateway solves the problem. Other times you also need to download the application.
The ballasts remain powered. By resetting the DALI ballasts you mean cutting the power to the ballasts ?
Downloading the application works but when we open the plug-in we can't connect to the DALI gateway.
It has been weeks since the last problem, but this was the case the last time aswell.
Kind regards,
Hannes

Hello Hannes
I would propose to check the following.
When the error occurs
- is there the possibility to control the lamps by the use of the buttons on the device
- is it possible to connect to the DALI Gateway via IP connection (web interface) and control the lamps
- is the display reacting on commands initiated by the buttons on the device?
This of this is to find out if there is still communication from the device to the DALI line but no communication from KNX bus.
Some more questions:
When was the firmware update done?
Are you sure that you are using firmware 1.2.0? It was released in November last year. As you mention the installation works well for weeks I guess the update was done not that long ago. Please doublecheck if really the latest firmware is on the device. Version number is indicated on the display.
Do you know how old the devices are?
Are the DALI gateways integrated in an IP network?
Best regards
Heribert

Hello Hannes
some more ideas what could cause your problem:
The DALI Gateway has several modes that cause that the lamps can no longer be controlled:
- panic mode
- test of emergency lamps
- burn-in of new lamps
Please check if one if these modes is active when you see the problem that lamps can no longer be controlled.
