Hi all.
First up, I'm an industrial Automation Systems integrator and have had nothing to do with C-Bus to this point...
I've been asked to look at a house that is C-Bus controlled, it has an issue with lights and blinds in one bedroom. The Switch/input device is a 5084NL 4 button controller. The indicator lights are on but if a button is pressed, they flicker and no change in the lighting or the blinds are possible.
I've checked the connections are secure and everything else is working fine. I'm thinking the problem is with the 5084NL rather than a dimmer or blind controller as it would be more likely for a single fault in the 5084NL than 2 separate faults?
Just after everyone's thoughts to make sure I'm on the right track and then secondly how do I go about replacing/programming it with it's address?

Hi Cavit,
Given that you have a flashing indicator, that would more likely be a comms issue. Depending on the vintage of the system and the location, it could be one or several power supplies in the system. I can probably count on my fingers and toes, the number of failed switches that I have experienced in more than 30 years on the job, so I would probable discount that. To diagnose the issue you really need an oscilloscope to look at the CBus Clock Pulse to see if there is any deformity in what should be a perfect heartbeat. Happy for you to call me if you need more advice.

Hi Marty,
Thanks for the reply... The lights are on constantly until I press a button and then they flash away. It's not end of the circuit as I have comms looping in and out and it's the only unit giving issues. If it was comms issue I would have expected to have other units further up the comms link/chain to have issues also?
Or not necessarily with C-Bus? Thoughts?

Its possible that the switch is at fault mate. However the earlier comment stands. in 30 plus years of doing C-Bus I can count faulty switches on two hands. I would swap switches and reprogram them to test my theory but that would require some reasonable understanding of Toolkit. send me an email at mholland@electriciansplus.com.au with your contact details and Ill give you a call.
