We have a number of ATV320 drives that connect to the PLC VIA CAN. We need to do backups with SoMove. Currently we disconnect the CAN cable, switch the drive to Modbus, power the drive down, power the drive up, back up the drive, switch the drive to CAN, power down the drive, power the drive up, then re-connect the CAN cable.
I would like to use the VW3A3600 mechanical adapter and the VWA3616 Ethernet IP Option Card. Can these be hot swapped for backing up the drives?

The Communcation cards are not designed for hot swap. But in your case you could built an adapter to split the CAN signal from the RS485 Signal. In that case you could use both together. CAN for your communication and RS485 for SOMOVE.
