Hello,
Has anyone a succesfull experience and documented case of study using SBO to monitor Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB) in an Airport? and also integrated the VDGS?
Thanks!

Hi Eddert,
Personally, I haven't had any experience with this. Do you know what kind of interface this system has and what kind of use cases you are trying to accomplish?

Jeff,
Remember Austen Top in Hong Kong did the Changi airport - FIDS – but it did not indicate the name of the FIDS software. This brought flight data into SBO to better adjust environments based on plane arrivals / departures….

Hi Eddert:
I am not sure what kind of interface of PBB system provided in your project.
Years ago, for Changi airport in Singapore, I deployed an interface which brings flight data from FIDS into SBO with the purpose as @Michael Bielby referred to, the FIDS server is based on SoniceMQ which provide JMS(Java Message Service) for third-party system to subscribe data from it.
Then the diver I deployed subscribes flight data from IB(information broker) and update into SBO for it to proceed other management actions.
I ever deployed an SQL gateway of SmartConnector(support value object and alarms only for now) which will create custom EWS server bases on custom SQL data tables.
For your case, as soon as you confirm the interface/protocol/API of the PBB system, you can deploy an application which brings data into an custom SQL data table, then my SQL gateway will finish left part by simple configuration.
Please note: With SQL gateway, there may be some time delay for data updating, however, SQL gateway helps you only focus on third-party integration without deep knowledge of SmartConnector.
Hope this helps you and let me know if you need deploy your interface by my SQL gateway.
Cheers
Austen Yin

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your reply, We have been having meeting the last week about this integration. We are going to integrate the Passeger Boarding Bridges (PBB) and the Video Docking Guidance System (VDGS), the PBB have a PLC with Modbus communication, so that doesn't represent to much challenge for integration and in the VDGS (by ADB Safegate), TCP is used for reliable communication between the systems and the application protocol
in use is XML, so here sounds like WebServices is the option.
All integration are limit to monitoring, BMS won't have control over those systems.
However, if you know about a previous case, that would be great to review.

Thanks Yin,
After some meetings with the PBB and VDGS providers it seems that the systems would used Modbus TCP and Simple XML respectively in order to communicate with third party systems as SBO.
Personally I don't have experience with SmartConnector, but I would like to learn more about it, so if you have any resource for begginers you could share with me I would appreciate so much.
