I don't think there is a coded limit to this, you have to bear in mind the resource requirements of your extensions and if they are long running or scheduled. I believe you can theroetically configure as many processors as you like, but the question is perhaps more about how many you can run concurrently.
By default your SmartConnector will be set to manage 5 worker threads. Meaning you can execute 5 processors concurrently. You can easily change that number in the portal settings, but remember this will affect the maximum number of concurrent processors that can run at the same time. If you have 30 processor extensions and they are all scheduled, and scheduled at different intervals then you may only ever be using 1 thread. However if your extension is long running (i.e. started and runs for long duration or permanently) then you can quickly start to use up your worker threads. If you have sufficent resources you can just raise the number. The resources used will vary by extension design so there's no generic rule.
If you look at your Status window in SmartConnector and see how many processors are running this should give you an idea of how you may need to adjust your worker thread limit.
