We would like to add a way in our software to allow users to copy/paste containers and values from our software into SBO. We could probably use the smartconnector endpoint api to achieve this, but it may be simpler for this use case to just export to xml and import into SBO, avoiding the need to have the user enter in the address and login information for SBO twice.

Hi Josh,
As far as I know there is no documentation for this. From what I have heard, people who have done something similar tend to reverse engineer what is created and go from there. That said, the XML is generally just COML. You could look into using the WorkStation SDK for this, or maybe the CSP library within Smart Connector as well.
Regards,
-Jeff

But adding to that, creating or editing xml import files is highly unrecommended, and has caused massive issues in the past with corrupted databases and the likes.
