Hello, I have a Hub R one channel hub and a combi oil fired boiler. I understand the hot water isn't controlled by the system. As a combi boiler provides instant hot water. We completely replumbed our house 3 years ago, with new combi boiler and Drayton wiser heating controls.
A couple of times a month when we turn the tap, the hot water doesn't come on. If I leave it for a couple of hours it will come back without doing anything. I have had two different plumbers look at it and cant identify the issue/have confirmed that there is no issue with the boiler. They weren't familiar with the wiser system though.
Does anything know if this could an issue with the Drayton Hub?
thanks Ross

Hello 🙂
I hope you're doing great and you had a good weekend! To answer to your post:
Combi boilers decide by themselves when to produce hot water. Wiser controls only the boiler only for space heating not for domestic hot water production.
Some boilers can handle the domestic hot water according to their own scheduler. That scheduler cannot be influenced by Wiser. It needs to be set up on the boiler itself. It might be that the boiler waits for the next scheduled time to deliver domestic hot water.
I hope it helps 🙂
Have a nice day,

I'm not a plumber nor a heating engineer, but unless the hub has been wired to the boiler incorectly then it doesn't sound like a wiser issue to me as the Combi boiler should fire up once water starts to flow regardless of the wiser system. I would suggest getting a Heating installation engineer to look at it rather than a generic plumber as they aren't always up to speed on latest tech. here's a link to Schneiders "find an installer"

Thank you for your comment.. I don’t think the boiler has any scheduler. But I don’t know. It provides instant hot water at anytime rather than on a timer. That’s my understanding of a Combi boiler
