Hello to everyone,
We recently find out that the schneider web platform to configure Connexium does not work.
We contacted the italian support and they suggested, as only solution, to downgrade Java to version 7.
I cannot agree with this solution. Java 7 now is only for development and testing puyrposes (acoording to the official website) and it is no more supported for security patches. How is it possible that schneider does not upgrade their firmware to serve a more moderne and secure service. Does anyone have any information about?
What I expect

Hello Alesandro,
I'm sorry that you're having issues. However, this forum is not related to any Connexium products so you likely will not find any assistance here unless some of our community members have Connexium experience.
Regards,
M

Alessandro,
I am familiar with what you are presently experiencing. In my experience, the landing page of the Connexium switch does indicate that you need Java v7.x to run the applet. However, I have never been able to make that work and, instead, have used Java v8.x. In my case, I've always used "JRE-8U-281".
https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase/javase8u211-later-archive-downloads.html
(You'll have to create a free Oracle account to be able to download this version of Java)
Upon downloading and installing Java, it is recommended to go into the Java configuration (Start > All Apps > Configure Java) and set security to High from Very High. While in the security settings, also check that "Enable Java for applications for browser and Web Start applications" IS checked.
From here you'll open Internet Explorer (or Edge) and navigate to the IP address that you assigned the ConneXium switch from the Ethernet Switch Configurator. Assuming all is done correctly, it may prompt you for permissions to run Java/Active X controls, it will launch a Java applet in the browser window.
In my experience, I've also had to do this in a Windows 7 virtual machine. However, I did try this very thing about 3-4 weeks ago, from Windows 10, and it worked as I'd expected. I think I even got it to work in Chrome but don't hold me to that.. It might have only been Internet Exploder that worked.
Good luck!

Hello Alpenglow,
Thank you for your suggestion.
As I mentioned above the official Schneider italian support suggested to me to install Java 7.x. Using this java version everything works straight forward for me.
The fact is that I want to use the last Java patched version, not an old one. I tried installing also the version you suggest but does not work for me.
The point is: why Schneider does update its hardware to be compatible with modern standard. Connexium it not out of market.
I hoped someone know something about Schneider intent or some work around to make thing works with latest Java version.
Thank you again,
Alessandro.
Black side up for Schneider this time, I guess.

Ah I see. My misunderstanding. Glad you got it working all the same.
A very wise person within Schneider once told me, "I don't answer 'why..' questions". LOL
Best of luck, Alessandro.
