Hi,
On SS there is an old Micom P545 relay (cortec P545317B3M0300J).
This relay does not have IEC61850 compatibility. Reason: hardware and firmware not supporting it.
Idea is to replace it with new devices Micom P545 with IEC61850. But in the SS on the other side of line differential protection, relays will not be replaced.
And now here is topic that we have problem with.
It seems communication card for the line differential protection is still the same on old and on new relays (GN0107010). But what about firmware compatibility, 87L algorithm and settings for this two generations apart relays?
Will Micom P545317B3M0300J line differential 87L settings, parameters, and communication be compatible with new relay(with new firmware)? Will 87L protection function work properly?
If not, what is the latest relay which 7L protection function can be compatible with this old one (P545317B3M0300J) ?
For the questions like "why not replace it on both sides" , answer is simple: "If you replace it on both sides, any other vendor (Siemens, ABB, SEL, GE,...) can be interested for replacement of the relays, too."
Best regards,
Ivan,
