Easergy Micom P741 relay & redundant power supply

Hello,

For the ongoing project end user is looking for central unit for busbar distributed protection with redundant power supply.

So we need Micom P741 with redundant power supply. As far as I know there is no redundant power supply on Micom P741 or on any other Micom relay.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

On the other hand end customer will accept solution with redundant power supply; DC/DC convertor; UPS or something similar as a solution for redundant power supply for the relay. So some device with two DC inputs and one DC output at least that will power up MIcom relay. Auxiliary voltage in SS is 220 Vdc.

My question for you:

  1. Was there any project in the past that had also mandatory redundant power supply? If so what was the solution (work around) for it?
  2. Can you recommend SE product (redundant power supply; DC/DC convertor; UPS or something similar) that can be useful as solution for this "problem"?

Best regadrs,

Hello,

None of our MiCOM P40 relays have redundant power supply. This is only mainly useful when there is no redundant protection scheme nor back up protection.

Googling "power supply dual input schneider electric" provides mainy SE references but we we not used them. There is as well many other brands available.

By the way, there is no point to put redundant power supply on P741 if there is no power supply redundancy on the peripheral units (P742/P743)

Micom C264 and Saitel DP have redundancy capacity in term of power supply, but not applicable to P741. Maybe other member of community could give a better feedback, but don't think the needed power with 2x 220 VDC input and 1x220 VDC output to exist in SE.

Solution that you can investigate is to use an fast auxiliary relay - https://www.se.com/ww/en/product/REL91225/relayaux---instantaneous-fast-trip-relay---4-c-o---pick-up... and this one to do the changeover of the 2x220 VDC source.

@HenriGRASSET

Thanks for the answer. I agree with your opinion at all points. This is completely not necessary, but it is tender specification. For example Siemens has redundant power supply BB protection (Siprotec 7SS85) and that is probably why this is a tender requirements for this SS.

On the other hand I could not find power supply with two 220V DC inputs and one 220V DC output. AC and low DC (12,24,48) voltage yes, but not the 220VDC. And off course Micom can support other voltages but then we are not fulfilling tender specification.

Does someone knows if Schneider has 220VDC dual input power supply and its reference?

Best regards
