ALARM LIST: PORT 2 LINK DOWN ON COM 3 - PowerLogic P5 Relay

Please can someone give advice and guidance on the alarm list message: Port 2 Link down on COM 3?

This is related to a PowerLogic P5 Protection relay.

Hi Mark

 

This is not an error.  It is a message in the "Alarm List" indicating to the user that there is no physical cable fitted into the Ethernet ports in slot L (highlighted in the red circle below).

  This screen means that there is no cable in the Ethernet port (therefore no LED's on the port)

You can either ignore the Alarm and carry on working with the relay, or you can disable comms in settings, or you can fit an RJ45 cable as loop back between the 2 ports.

 

When a cable is fitted the Alarm message will change to  "Port 2 Link up on com 3".

  and there will be LED's lit on the ports.
