Asset Advisor Power Monitoring?

Can Asset Advisor monitor Power? Voltage, Amperage, etc.

Can Asset Advisor gather the information from a power monitor?

Being able to gather the temperature as well as the power information would provide more insight into the health of an asset.

I have seen some information that Asset Advisor can monitor a MV VFD. How does it accomplish the power monitoring? What does the architecture look like?

Regards,

Saul

Hi Saul,

Can Asset Advisor monitor Power? Voltage, Amperage, etc.

  • YES Asset Advisor can monitor many kind of data, the most used power, currents, voltage …

Can Asset Advisor gather the information from a power monitor?

  •  YES, the key point is AA must receive this data coming from a gateway:

Device (modbus most of the time) ==> gateway ==> Asset Advisor

  • The gateway must be able to read the data from the device (power monitor in your example) and forward it to Asset Advisor
By “read the data”, I mean know the register table of this device, the unit of each datapoint…

Being able to gather the temperature as well as the power information would provide more insight into the health of an asset.

  • YES, AA can associate temperature to an monitored asset.

I have seen some information that Asset Advisor can monitor a MV VFD. How does it accomplish the power monitoring? What does the architecture look like?

  • I don’t have information to reply here, but I hope someone else can reply soon.

Hi Saul,

Connectivity for ATV6000 is made by Com'X, which is installed and configured at factory, not in brownfield once equipment is shipped to customer site. They keep using Com'X by the time all models are created, tested and validated for Panel server. Any ATV6000 ordered with EAA option gets 1 Com'X inside, with all relevant signals. Picture you shared is definition for connectivity with full scope of options.

Hi Saul,

In addition to Loic comment, ATV6000 Drive has their own means to measure current, voltage, energy and power. Following table shows measurements ATV6000 Drive can push into gateway (Com'X or PaS), in turn, into Asset Advisor application (label with Capital letter code correspond with ATV internal coding, same available in ATV6000 manual):

Drive rate - NCV
Drive rate voltage- VCAL
Electrical energy Input GWh – IE3
Electrical energy Input kWh – IE1
Electrical energy Input MWh – IE2
Electrical energy Input TWh – IE4
Electrical energy Input Wh – IE0
Electrical energy Output GWh – OE3
Electrical energy Output kWh – OE1
Electrical energy Output MWh – OE2
Electrical energy Output TWh – OE4
Electrical energy Output Wh – OE0
Main estimated current phase 1
Main estimated current phase 2
Main estimated current phase 3
Main frequency - FAC
Main unbalance voltage - UMV
Main voltage - ULN
Main voltage phase 1
Main voltage phase 2
Main voltage phase 3
Mains active power P – IPRW
Mains apparent power S - ISRW
Mains reactive power Q - IQRW
Power factor Cos - PWF
Power input mains current – PIMC
Power input mains voltage – PIMV
Power input transformer power - PITP
Power output Cell Current - PoCC
Power output cell number - PoCN
Power output Cell type - PoCT
Power output cell voltage – PoCV

I hope this clarifies your question about how Power/energy  information

Thank you Loic. Attached you will find the slide of the ATV6000.

It would be interesting to find out what the architecture looks like.

Victor,

Thank you for your reply.

Is it safe to assume that the ATV6000 communicates to Com'X via Modbus to get the input power and output power information?

Regards,

Saul

Loic,

For clarification purpose.

Power Monitor = Power Meter like the PM8244. Do you know what data points EAA reads from the Power Meter? I have attached the Modbus Map for your reference.

Hi,

After a check, I confirm  the ATV6000 is supported by PanelServer  (PAS600 &  PAS800).

There is a  custom model, that allow  PanelServer  to monitor all  useful  data.

The architecture you first asked is possible yet:

ATV6000 Modbus TCP--->Panel Server--->EAA

About the PM8244, yes there is also a custom  model  for  Panel Server allowing :

PM8000 --->Panel Server--->EAA

Important :  the custom models I talk here are designed for EAA use, so not all the modbus map are  monitored, only the data that EAA need.
