Unity Loader Firmware Password

I am trying to use unity loader to load a project file into an M580. I am connected via USB and when pressing connect, I am prompted to enter the firmware password. When I enter "fwdownload" I get an incorrect password notification.

But in control expert, when I set up firmware password protection, I am able to reset the password to the default "fwdownload" using... "fwdownload". I then build the project, load it to the M580.

But unity loader still tells me the password is incorrect when I try to use it to load the project.

Steps to Resolve the Unity Loader Firmware Password Issue

1) Double-check the password protection settings in Control Expert:
- Go to Project Settings > Protection > Firmware Download Password.
- Ensure the password is explicitly set to "fwdownload" (case-sensitive).
- Rebuild and download the project again to the M580.

2) Use the correct login credentials in Unity Loader:
- When prompted, make sure:
Username: loader
Password: the exact firmware password you set in Control Expert (e.g., fwdownload),

3) Try connecting via Ethernet instead of USB:
- Some users have reported that USB connections can behave inconsistently with password prompts.
- If possible, try using the Ethernet port and see if the password is accepted.

4) Check Unity Loader version compatibility:
- Ensure you're using Unity Loader v10 or higher, as earlier versions may not support the firmware password feature properly.

5) Clear cached credentials:
- Unity Loader may cache incorrect credentials. Try:
Restarting Unity Loader.
Rebooting the PC.
Reconnecting the USB or Ethernet cable.

Hello,

Please check the current firmware of your M580. If the firmware is v4.x, you cannot use Unity Loader.

Thank you for the reply. Is there an alternative I can use to load and run projects to my M580, without the need of Control Expert when the PLC firmware is v4.x? We would like to find a way for our techs out in the field to load projects to the M580, without the need of a license, in a pinch.

@Kkalpoe Ecostruxure Automation Device maintenance V3.3.142.0 is the latest version of our firmware management tool.  I have not tested this but EADM has the ability to download projects as well, see the attached screenshot.  Follow the instructions provided by Yongho-Kim and RoozeeR.  That will help to ensure the firmware is downloaded and then you can try the application.

As mentioned by @Trinxs1 , you should use Ecostruxure Automation Device maintenance V3.3.142.0.

I have tried this, and currently doesn't function correctly. I have see there is already a case created to resolve the issue. I advice you to contact your local support, and create a case, so you will be informed as soon as a fix is available.
