Service Level :199 for BMENUA0100 module

Hi Experts,

For a BMENUA0100 module installed on rack A the service(Hot standby CPUs) level is 199 and it's not working. The same module in the other racks is working fine and the their service level is 255. Any ideas?

When the BMENUA0100 module is operational but in the standby PLC rack it will have a service level of 199.  I have not checked this fully, but it will not become fully operational until the CPU and rack becomes the primary CPU.  Try forcing a swap of the primary CPU so that the NUA module becomes the primary and the service level changes to 255.

Please note there is new firmware (V2.04.02) for the BMENUA0100 module that addresses a bug fix with the NUA module in a hot standby system where the service level remains 0.

Thanks for the reply.

my problem is that for this rack specifically while the cpu is the primary one, the service level is 199!

Please provide the following:

1. ECE Version with hotfixes listed

2. Firmware Version of the M580 CPU

3. Part number of the M580 HSBY CPU

4. Firmware Version of the BMENUA0100

5. How are you reading the Service Level? Are you using the BMENUA0100 Device DDT or directly from the BMENUA0100 via a OPC UA Client?

thought the other modules in other racks are working (service level:255) with the same Firmware version (2.03.05), I tried to update the Firmware using Automation Device Maintenance to 2.04.02 but I receive an error "firmware update was not successful. the device has declined the firmware update due to an invalid signature or a corrupted or compatible file"

-I am using web browser to read values from the module.

-CPU is eH58-4040

I managed to upgrade the firmware. the issue still exist when I install the module on that rack. when I install it on my test rack, service level is 255 and works fine but as soon as I return it back service level goes back to 199 and module cannot communicate!

@Sam1987 as @Robert_Willis has suggested check the firmware version of the CPUs.  It would be best that these are at V4.40.
Is there an issue with the rack that you place the module in? If you swap racks for the NUA does the fault remain with the rack or the module or both?

so it is obviously a bug!! to my surprise, the module installed on the primary rack was communicating with the standby CPU! service level was 199 and when I stopped the standby CPU it changed to 120!! I stopped the CPUs and initiated them but it didn't work. So, during a short shutdown I had to remove power from CPUs and power them on again. now the service level is 255!

The service level is 255 but I can't still write to the tags using Uaexpert while I can read them!

Please check to see that the variable is not being overwritten by application logic.
