Hi
I am trying to connect to a few Modicon M340 PLCs using OPC UA. I have followed the instructions in the video here: https://www.se.com/ww/en/faqs/FA411749/
I am successfully able to connect to 2 of my PLCs, but I am unable to connect to the rest.
I get the same error for all the other PLCs as is shown in the attached image.
The only difference I can see is that on the 2 PLCs that connect they have newer firmware than the rest.
Do I need to upgrade the firmware on the other PLCs to be able to connect using OPC UA?
Or is there another reason for why I am unable to connect to them?
I can't find anything about these error codes online
Thanks in Advance
Aron

Hello,
1: Did you check in Unity/Control Expert if the checkbox " DataDictionary" is selected? See screenshot attached, DataDictionary enabled is mandatory.
2: And if yes, is the checkbox "Only HMI Variables" also selected? Then check if there are variables with in the Data Editor, which have the checkbox HMI variables selected.
3: If the checkbox "Only HMI Variables" is not selected all variables should be exposed in the Data Dictionary to OPCUA when he checkbox " DataDictionary" is selected.
If all this is set, please check the firmware used in the CPU and NOC/NOE (if used) cards.

Hi
Thanks for the answer.
I have the "DataDictionary" checkbox selected and I have tried it with and without the "Only HMI Variables" checbox checked. In both cases I get the same error as mentioned in my original post.
The firmware I have on the CPUs that don't work is 2.10 and 2.00.
The firmware I have on the CPUs that work is 2.60
Thank you
Aron

Hello Aron,
There is your answer. V2.00 and v2.10 are rather old.
Best to upgrade the CPU's to latest version (3.40), which also bring a lot of improvements to Cyber Security issues.
Also you might consider to upgrade your application (CPU type version in Unity/ECE).
