M580S X80 I/O Modules - LED ERR (red) blinking

Hi everyone. We are quite new in M580S and still learning.

We are working on a project using M580S with CRA31210 module configured for a remote drop. Kindly refer attached architecture.

After setting up all equipment, powered up and downloaded the configuration, we noticed that all I/O modules are having: -

  • LED RUN (green) - off
  • LED ERR (red) - blinking : which indicate "module not configured"

Besides that, the CRA module is having LED RUN (green) - off as well.

Kindly clarify, is the error on I/O modules are related to the CRA? Kindly guide us on how to troubleshoot this problem. Thank you very much.

Hi all. Just to update the status.

We finally confirmed the I/O modules LED ERR (red) - blinking was due to BMECRA31210 firmware ver. 2.40 incompatibility with CPU firmware ver. 3.20.05. It requires a firmware 2.60 or later.

We downloaded SV2.60 and upgraded BMECRA31210 firmware accordingly. After some adjustments, we managed to solve the issue. Thanks again.

Check and correct CRA drop address switches

  > The CRA31210 uses rotary switches to set its drop address.

  > If the address is not correctly set or doesn't match the configuration in Control Expert, the I/O Modules will not be recognized.

Hi @YONGHO-KIM ,

Thank you for your response. We have set CRA drop address switches as below: -

  • Tens : 0
  • Ones: 1

We further checked the CRA firmware ver. is 2.4. Could it be due to incompatibility issue with CPU firmware ver. 3.2? If yes, is there a way to upgrade the CRA firmware? Thank you.

Hello Eyanto,

You have downloaded a configuration, which include the CRA31210 and the IO modules?

At least the CRA  must have a RUN light on. Please check for the CRA module:

1: Is the switch on front of the module set o the configured Drop address?

2: Is the configured module selected correctly: Is it according the module type BMXCRA31210 or BMECRA31210? This is a common mistake, if the type is not set correct as it's only 1 letter difference (X or E).

Hi @RoozeeR ,

Yes, we have downloaded the configuration with BMECRA31210 and X80 I/O modules.  The CRA rotary address switches have been set as below: -

  • Tens : 0
  • Ones: 1

Now the CRA indicates LED RUN (green). Thank you.
