M580S BMXSAI0410 Wiring Scheme

Hi everyone. This is our first experience using BMXSAI0410.

We need further clarification on the wiring scheme with reference to Modicon M580 Safety Manual QGH46982.11 05/2025, page 55 of 418. As shown by the diagram, we opted the first wiring scheme for all AI signals which is current source.

We are expecting for 2-wire current loop 24VDC powered configuration. However, during internal FAT, we measured zero voltage at the respective Pin no. 1 and 3. Does it indicates that we need to have external 24VDC power distribution for each channel?

Thank you.

The module itself does not supply 24VDC power. Therefore, an external 24VDC power source is required for each channel.

This is consistent with Schneider Electric’s typical analog input module design. In particular, for 2-wire sensor configurations, the loop power must be supplied externally. The module only measures the loop current and does not provide the power to drive the loop

The first wiring is for a 2-wire power configuration, while the second wiring is for a 4-wire power configuration.

Hi @YONGHO-KIM,

Thank you very much for your response.

Besides that, we would like to understand more about the second wiring scheme as shown by the diagram. There is external 24VDC power supply at the circuit. May we know what is the difference with the first wiring scheme? And at what situation we should use the first and the second wiring schemes. Thank you.
