Hello everybody,
I have a M580 HSBY system with topology as attached, I have two identical system with two separate panels, we want to fix one CPU with one RIO in each panel as showed in attached pic. the question is, if any power failure happens for any panel, does the other system can continue in operation??

Hi @Mahmoud_Yacoub,
Based on your description, you have one set of HSBY M580 CPUs (2 CPUs) with two RIO remote drops, and you segregated them in a different panel.
In your particular example, you are pointing out that if Panel 1's power supply is lost, both CPU B and RIO2 will no longer be available. However, CPU A and RIO1 from Panel 1 are still operational.
NOTE: Before the power supply of Panel 2 is lost, depending on which CPU is in which state, a swapping might or might not occur.
NOTE: Typically, different RIO (remote drops) IO modules (DI/DO/AI/AO) are connected with various sensors and actuators. In this particular scenario, all the sensors and actuators that were connected to the remote drop (RIO 2) IO modules will be gone. The loss of the Panel 1 power supply, even though RIO 1 and CPU A are in operation, will impact the application level.
Remedy: One way is to consider using the dual power supplies (PSs) with a supported PS rack at the HSBY CPUs and CRA drop level.
NOTE: Both rack PSs should have a different supply source, not the common supply, so even if one of the sources fails, it will not impact the system. You can even mix and match AC and DC sources. With this, you can maintain the availability of the CPUs and remotely drop (System) even if one of the power supply sources at any panel is gone.
I recommend you go through the “M580 HSBY System Operation” from the Control Expert help file to have a better understanding. Check also the redundant Power supplies details.
I hope the above comments will provide help.

MWS

Hi Siddiqui,
Thank you for reply, the redundancy in power supply already considered, but I asked my question to be sure about this configuration before implementation.
thank you so much.
Regards
