M580 HSBY and STB Distibuted IO with Modbus RTU/Serial Protocol

Hi All,

I have the configuration with M580 HSBY and STB Distibuted IO via the RSTP protocol but the customer asked to add the Modbus RTU/Serial Protocol.Tried to add the BMXNOM0200 but can't. What module should I use in this case? Thanks

Hello Godfrey,
I think you can offer EGX150 or Panel server to be a gateway and be connected to CRA service port which will guaranty the redundant connection between the two CPUs
But please consider the following:
The speed of service port is 5 Mbps so please don`t add many gateways (my recommendation 4 or 5 gateways and each gateway handle 7 RS485 devices)
Maybe the main controller will loss the communication with RS485 devices when the system transfer between CPUs for 3 or 5 second depends on number of requests and devices , and incase the system controls in RS485 devices you will need to increase the devices watchdog or timeout a little bit.

You can only add the BMXNOM0200 to a drop rack not the CPU racks.

The alternative assuming you require Modbus RTU RS485 protocol is to use a modbus ethernet to modbus serial gateway such as a panel server 600.
