Have you recently updated a Drives DTM and then opened an older project and see that the DTM Audit Tool identifies a difference in the DTM used in the project and the DTM on the PC?
How do you update the DTM in the project?
1. Remove and reinstall the device in the DTM browser. Not a good option as this requires capturing the configuration details and re entering them.
2. Change the IP address of the device instance. Build the project and change the IP address back to the original IP address.
This is very easy to do and will also update the DTM version. However when you have fifty instances configured this is very tedious.
3. Close the project and re open it. The DTM browser will run but not highlight any differences and hence will not show.
What does not work...
Export the project and re import it.
Action to date: (updated 2024 01 25)
EcoStruxure Control Expert V16.0 now has a feature for you to be able to selectively update DTM versions. Please note though that only one DTM version can be installed on your PC. Which instances of a specific DTM you choose to update are up to you. As long as the version of the DTM installed on your machine is equal to or later than the one used in the project life is ON!

It would be good if the Audit tool or Unity had an option to update the DTM versions within the project

This is NOT a solution as in some industries modifications of this type after the FAT / SAT would require them to be documented, validated, FAT and SAT completed. We need a solution that allows the user to select the option to update the DTM from the DTM Audit Tool and to explain if a Build or Rebuild all is required.

Yes please make an option for letting ESCE updating the project DTM versions so we don't have to do it manually in messy ways but it should not be done by default without user authorization

Hello every one,
One of the improvements that the Control Expert 15.3 has made is the introduction of a DTM updater utility in the CE's own DTM browser.
Update Application project with newer device DTM version
Device Management – Control Expert Classic & Topology Manager
I'm Attaching the following steps that how to update the DTM easily
User can compare device DTM version used in the opened Project with device DTM version present in the PC.
Update of one or several devices DTM is possible by doing the following actions :
· Select DTM Brower > Right Click on Host PC > DTM Service…
· Select Device to update using check box
· Click Update DTM devices button
The topology manager also offers this new feature:
Note 1: only one version of a Device DTM is installable on a computer. So if you decide to not update your devices with the same version, when you will open device and save the device will be automatically saved with the PC installed DTM version.
I hope my comment is useful for you
Good luck!
Ricard

I have used the tool above and unfortunately is has dome bugs. It does not report all DTMs versions correctly. The DTM versions in this tool do not match versions in DTM Audit Tool.
I have case with support about this and they were able to replicate my problem. The are working on solution.

Hello,
I use the DTM service utility to update my DTMs.
It works very well except for one type of equipment: STB N I P
I have version 12.3 on my PC and 12.2 used in the project.
However, the utility sees version 1.x 2.x 3.x 4.x (hardware version) and notes that the hardware versions correspond. so no update...
Deleting and creating new equipment does not suit me.
Export from the DTM is possible but no import.
Do you have a solution ?
THANKS

In your DTM browser right click on the problematic device and select properties. Make sure there that the versions are different. For me the DTM service utility was reporting incorrect versions but in the properties window they were correct.
If you truly have mismatched versions I usually only change IP address, build changes, change IP address again to the original one, build changes again, and the versions are matched. No need to delete and recreate device DTM.

It only does SOME DTMs.... NOC? Forget it. CPU? Forget it. Even the 'Change IP Address' fix only works sometimes. Schneider - the master of giving you more 'undocumented features' than you imagined possible.
