Can't connect via USB to M172.

I have 4 laptops that can't connect to the M172 via the USB port.
Software:  EcoStruxure Machine Expert - HVAC and EcoStruxure Machine Expert - HVAC - Installer
     Laptop:  HP ProBook.

I have 2 laptops that will connect to the M172 via the USB port.
Software:  EcoStruxure Machine Expert - HVAC and EcoStruxure Machine Expert - HVAC - Installer
     Laptop:  HP ZBook.

I have worked with HP support and followed all of their recommendations but still can't connect.
1) Reimage & Reinstall windows
2) Install all hardware and software updates for windows and HP.
3) Fresh install EcoStruxure HVAC.

The HP ProBooks only have (USB 3.0) ports and it seems like the USB driver isn't working well with (USB 3.0)... or at least working well with the ProBook's (USB 3.0).

I can mess with the driver setting inside devise manager and get the ProBook to connect once. After disconnecting and/or restarting EcoStruxture, I can no longer connect to the PLC.  From what I can determine, it seems like the EcoStrusture software and the USB CDC Serial Port Emulation driver aren't interacting correctly.  It seems like the driver is showing the port in use when it actually isn't. And / or the driver isn't releasing the port after disconnecting within EcoStruxture.

Is there a different driver I can utilize or a newer version of the driver available?
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues with connectivity?

Thanks,

Richard

Normally if you connect the USB cable you could see the cable in the device manager of windwos. Furthermore you see in the software if you choose the correct com port that the configuration of Baudrate and frame setting will not longer be changeable. The reason of this is that the USB cable could connect via every baud to the PLC.

Did the PLC start if you connect the USB cable? If you don´t have an external 24V supply on the controller maybe the problem is that the current of the USB port is limitated and you could not power the TM172. Please check this point.

Yes, all of the above is happening correctly as you outlined.

The PLC will start from the USB cable, but I am powering it with external 24VDC.
