Display the power consumption of the PLC as a system word

Within Control Expert we can estimate the power consumption.

It would be ideal if we could interrogate the power supply (redundant 40W) even in single use mode if installed or develop an algorithm to calculate the power used across the backplane and display this information "the consumed power for the PLC" in an unused System word.

For a redundant power supply installed in a redundant X80 backplane, this information is available via the PWS_DIAG function block:

  • Current drawn on the 3.3 Vdc power supply internally and delivered to the rack
  • Voltage measured on the 3.3 Vdc power supply output
  • Current drawn on the 24 Vdc power supply internally and delivered to the rack
  • Voltage measured on the 24 Vdc power supply output

Thanks @MaxBoyer you have exposed my inability to read the manual.   BTW the temperature shown in your response is the internal temperature which is 20C above the ambient temperature.  So now we know the temperature and the power consumption.
