ION8650 Connect using Optical Port
One of our clients is facing issues with downloading power monitoring data from the ION8650 meters. Is there a way to connect meter directly with laptop to download the data? I see there is an optical port in the front, can that be used to connect the meter to a laptop and download monitoring data?

The optical port on the front is designed for an ANSI Type 2 optical probe--I believe any model on the market will do. I recommend one with a USB port and a magnetized head.
Once the drivers are installed on your laptop at the probe is connected, it will show up as a new serial port and you will be able to connect directly to the meter using ION Setup.
