I would like to be able to save a complete project, including the value of the parameters, so that I can easily program a new PLC in the future.
What I mean is this: If I connect to a new PLC, I can do a "download all" which, as far as I know, downloads the program, the HMI program (fot TM172) and the default parameters as written on the Configuration/Resources tab.
However, while developing a new application, default values are a starting point, many of them need to be changed due to various reasons. Keeping track of them -in terms of writing them as new default values- is not an easy task.
So a couple of questions:
1) Is it possible to write the parameters as they are saved on the PLC (Commissioning/AllParameters/Read All) as the new default values ?
2) In case this is not possible (or maybe not he best solution) how do I write the parameters as they were saved on a particular project so as to fully duplicate a particular setup ?

After the commisioning and the testing of the machine you could go in commisiong tab to all parameters. In this folder you could read back all EEPROM and BIOS parameter. After you read them they are stored in the Value field. Since ESME HVAC 1.4 you get during the USB file generation the question if you want use the current or the default values. In you case chosse current and everything will be fine.

Thanks Bastian. I will give the USB approach a try. I have never used USB so far. All of my programming have been done on a laptop.
However, if I understand correctly maybe the process should be:
1) Read all parameters from the original PLC
2) Save the project
3) Connect to the new PLC and choose "Download all"
4) When asked as final confirmation in the process "Download parameters default values ?" choose no.
5) In the Comissioning Tab/Parameters choose "Write all".
Is that right ?
There seems to be no button to write all current values as the new default values, this process should be done by hand on a one to one basis.
