What do the exclamation mark symbols mean on my HMI objects?

Please can somebody tell me what the exclamation marks mean on my HMI in the image below?

Do you have a HMI with Vijeo Designer/ Vijeo Designer Basic? In my opion this Icon should show a communication error to the linked var.

Yeah the HMI is running via Vijeo Designer.

I agree it seems to relate to a comms issue, but I've had comms loss before and nothing flags up but I wonder if it needs to see a specific network error before it shows them?
