Has anyone had issues with gears in VAV controllers (\2866, I2865) teeth breaking off causing the damper to fail in place and if so was any attempt made to replace the gear?
We have replaced several gears to get the VAV controllers back in service and are looking to see about getting replacement gears outside of scavenging them from controllers that have failed for other reasons as the gear failures outnumber the other causes of controller failure.
The specific gear that is failing is stamped DCQC-131 part number.

Hi, yes we have that same problem. We have the B3866-V controllers that use the same gear and have had to scavenge from old controllers. We are trying to find the manufacture of them, but haven't found them yet. The next step was to see about having them 3D printed. The cause of the problem may be due to zeroing the CFM air flow at minimum, or may be when the box goes through calibration. We are using Continuum and I was told the controllers do a recalibration and it may be forcing the damper to shut as well and put the gear under pressure.
