I’m searching for a simple way to install a remote monitoring solution to older model pumping stations, with different makes and models spanning many years and which are scattered over a large area.
Everything is running fine - until it’s not, maintenance costs are rising and frankly it’s pure luck if I catch an issue which can result in component failure.

This is a prime example of why IoT solutions need to be cost effective and easy to deploy.
For this to be a relatively simple solution, you need a basic IoT monitoring setup in the cloud, affordable gateways, and most important, software that deals with the onboarding process without any additional programming being required.
The fact that the setup involves many groups of presumably only a few devices, in clusters spread far and wide, means you can opt for simplicity and low cost over processing power on the hardware side, although cellular capability would probably be a must. Omnio software can run on most architectures and seamlessly onboard legacy devices to any IIoT platform, making it easy to install remote monitoring systems with no retrofit needed. Measures like this will give you the safeguards you need without blowing the bank, and you can send technicians where they a needed for maintenance and repairs before critical failures.

Hi Anna, sounds like quite a common issue and fortunately one that lots of companies are working to solve with some solid solutions.
@Anonymous user may well be a good solution to help you to retrofit legacy assets in order to start getting data from them, when that happens, unless you have some in-house data / condition monitoring expertise then you will likely get swamped with the voluem and complexity of the data.
For legacy equipement, you won't want (or need) to create custom models so I would suggest you take a look at a product like Senseye which can automate the analysis of all of this data, giving you simple machine health analysis and helping you to understand which machines to focus your attention on.
Please check out Senseye on the Scheider Electric Exchange below or ping us an email at hello@senseye.io
