How to use TM3BCEIP with M340 over Modbus

Hello, I was able to configure the TM3 with a TM3AI8 and TM3DI8 by using the TM3 IO Configurator, I was able to apply the configuration to the TM3 using the web server. I am having trouble trying to connect and control the TM3BCEIP to an M340 BMX P34 2020 3.30 on control expert. The current setup is the M340 with a BMX NOE 0100.2. The project I am working on restricts me to only these with the TM3. There is no DTM library for the M340, so I tried to use the BMX NOE 0100.2 and that did not work since there is no DTM library. I was able to export an EDS file, but it was not for Modbus. There is a method by using the BMX NOC 0401 by following the Configurator User Guide, but I can't use the 0401. I tried to import the devsec file I exported from the configuration, and I was not able to import it into machine expert to get an EDS file working with Modbus. What should I do now to get the TM3 to work on control expert so I can communicate to it?

Hello,

Try to do like this:

This example work with 16DI/16DO, but for AI/AO configuration should be similiar.

Never used TM3 with the modbus coupler but I see in Damianrychert's screenshots that there is a export XSY, that is the standard variable import/export format of control expert so that is probably what you want. Or just type in the addresses you get from the IO scanner in the variable list. And you don't need those word_to_bit and vise versa, you can enable "allow bit extraction" under project settings and type for example %MW1000.0 as the address of a bool. There is also a excel based XSY editor which is very handy when working with large amounts of variables.

And another tip, dont use 700/750 as master %MW zones, it will severely limit the ability of the system to expand with more IOs/nodes in the future. Use like 1000/2000 or even higher but separate them by way more than 50. You might need to go into the CPU settings and set available %MW addresses to a few thousands, it is default on 1024 I think, dunno why that low 😞

Hello my friends,

I'm attaching a screenshot of the TM3 configuration where show you the mapping of Modbus. I think that it will be of help to you.
