Establish ethernet connection between HMIST6500 and M251

Hello,

I'd like to communicate between HMIST6500 panel and TM251MESE PLC. As driver, in EcoStruxureOperator Terminal, I've chosen Schneider Electric-SoMachineNetwork where I set the PLC IP address (192.168.44.10).

In Machine Expert Logic Builder I'm using Generic_EtherNet_IP_device (I'm not sure is the right one). I've set panel's IP address (192.168.44.2) but a red triangle is shown.

What am I missing? Are there any other settings I should make in order to be able to have communication between devices?

Another question would be how to address a variable in ESOT through ethernet? For example, if I want to set, from HMI, a value for %MW20, how it should be addressed?

Hi @jhonut ,

I have made this video of how to connect the M2xx with an HMI in EOTE (EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert):

I believe this is going to help you.

Best regards,

Leandro

@LeTomas , many thanks for your reply! Though I have one question. How can I have access to https://schneider-electric.app.box.com/ ? I think this kind of videos should be accessed by everyone who's using Schneider software tools. Once again, thank you for your time and solution!

Have a great day!

Hi Leandro,

I am also struggling to get the HMIST6600 to communicate with a TM251MESE. I followed your video which was great regarding tags, however I can only see that you configured the HMI to talk to the PLC via serial. Can you please give an explanation as to how to configure the communication via Ethernet?

Thanks, Ben

Hi @Anonymous user ,

I have checked the video ( https://youtu.be/ZGvNAPbo-Hs ) and the connection was using the ethernet port of the devices.

What you need to do is:

On the PLC:

1) Set the ip address and nodename.

2) Add the symbol configuration.

3) Select the variables that you want to share with the HMI.

4) Generate the XML file.

5) Download the app to the HMI ( check if you are going to use the security)

On the HMI:

1) Set the ip address of the HMI (same network as the PLC)

2) Add the SoMachine/Machine Expert driver

3) Configure the driver as nodename (use the nodename of the PLC).

4) Check the security on the PLC to match the configuration on the HMI.

5) Import the variable the from the XML file.

6) Download the application to the HMI

I believe these are the steps to follow, sorry if miss something in the middle. The video has the complete explanation.

Best regards,
