Citect Computer Setup Wizard failing.

I'm very new to Citect scada software and have installed the Citect SCADA 2018 R2 v8.2.

I have an issue when I run the Computer set up wizard in that it fails to store the security credentials and it cannot complete.

I cannot find any information on this problem so am hoping to find it here.

The attached images shows the error I receive upon completing the set up process.

Thanks.

I have managed to get by for now but it would be good to identify the cause for future reference.

I've simply disabled the computer setup check prior to running the program and it is running ok for my needs.

I am only using the Citect SCADA software temporarily to test the functionality of the PLC code that it is interfacing with.

For this reason, I have also not configured a System Management Server as I was having issues with ports and it was not required for my purpose.

Perhaps the setup wizard failing has something to do with fact that there is no System Management Server configured.

Hi @Topher Did you manage to get around this problem? I also don't have SMS configured, and I get the same error.

If I run %programfiles(x86)%\AVEVA\Citect SCADA 2018 R2\Bin\CtSetup.exe as administrator I don't get the error and the settings do get saved.

Edit: The issue is probably due to the fact that a restart is needed so that the currently logged-in user is properly assigned to the Windows groups created by the Citect installer.

Hi @btekkiam

I got around the problem by turning off the auto check for Computer Setup in the options. After this, I was no longer prompted to run the Wizard and was able to run the program.

Not a long term fix but it was adequate for me as I only developed the SCADA interface so that I could test the function and data mapping of the PLC that it was connected to.  After that, it wasn't needed any more.

Hi

I've been working with Citect Studio for several weeks.
When I wanted to continue working on the project this week, run-time no longer worked. Error message: "The user must have access to the server password to run as part of the trusted domain."
I then tried to do a new "Computer Setup".
New error message: Storing security credentials failed. Setup wizard cannot complete.
Attempting to run Citect Studio as an administrator did not get me there.
I'm using version 8.20 R2.
A Windows update may have been installed automatically at the end of last week.

Wolfgang

I have heard of this issue before. Over here in Thailand, our SAE Jeerawat somehow resolved the issue by messing around with the Configurator. Something about re-configuring the Configurator again.
