This SCADA tutorial video demonstrates how to install Virtual ViewX: Extend web functionality and browser independence for Geo SCADA Expert.
In brief, the main steps are as follows:
- Read the Release Notes and take any recommended actions
- Take any backups you might need
- Ensure that your Windows software is up to date
Note: All previous installations must have been fully completed, including those needing a computer reboot
- From the splash screen of the installer, click Install Virtual ViewX Server. Various pre-requisites will be installed
- After the prerequisites have been installed, there’s a confirmation box to install the main part, the server
- Accept the license terms
- Choose the default ports, unless you wish to change them
- Begin with the self-generated secure port certificate. You can change these settings later in the IIS Manager app
- Choose to disable the default web site, particularly if you are adding this server to a Geo SCADA Expert Server host and want to host the Geo SCADA Web Services port on the same default port
- On completion, click Finish and close the installer screen
- The server will be required to reboot
- Once the machine has restarted, open the installation program
- For the second phase, click the next line on the setup screen ‘Prepare Virtual ViewX’. This step links the Virtual ViewX components together
- The next step is to license the Virtual ViewX server which is covered in Video #6
