Split racks into compartments in the IT Advisor web client

You can divide racks into logical sections called compartments and add rack mountable assets to them. You can assign customers to compartments, especially beneficial for colocations.

Compartments are defined by new genomes. Before you can add compartments to a rack, you must assign the compartment genomes to your local genomes.

Add compartment genomes to your genome library

Go to Genomes  > Genome Library.

Search for Compartment. Select the genome(s) and then click Add to My Genomes.

Note: The default compartment sizes are 1U, 2U, and 4U. You can copy and edit them in the My Genomes view.

Add a compartment to a rack

1. Select a room. In the Assets context, select a rack and expand the rack view.
2. Click the lock icon to unlock the room and then click Add assets.
3. Expand My Genomes and Compartment Cabinets and select a genome.
4. Place the compartment genome in the rack.

You can then add rack mountable assets to the compartment.

Compartments support the following properties:

• Name, serial number, and barcode
• Custom properties
• Tags
• Labels
• Colocation properties: Customer information, State, Contracted Power
