Sustainability metrics

The Energy Efficiency tab was renamed Sustainability metrics on the Dashboard in the web client.   Click Configuration and select General to configure metrics. An asterisk * indicates that configuration in the web client is required.    Metrics include:   PUE: Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is the industry-accepted energy efficiency metric for the physical infrastructure systems that support the IT loads of a data center, for example, power and cooling.   PUE = total facility power / IT load   DCiE: Data center infrastructure efficiency (DCiE) is a metric used to determine the energy efficiency of a data center, developed by The Green Grid. It is shown as a percentage, calculated by dividing the IT load by the facility power.   DCiE = IT load / total facility power x 100%   Subsystem loss: Energy comsumption by the infrastructure subsystems   Capacity utilization: The IT load is expressed as a percentage of the full theoretical capacity rating of the physical infrastructure.   Renewable Energy Factor*: REF is calculated as the ratio of the renewable energy consumed by the data center to its total energy consumption. Specify the amount of energy in kWh that is produced from renewable sources.   Water Usage Effectiveness*: WUE is the ratio between the use of water in data center systems and the energy consumption of the IT equipment, measured in liters/kilowatt-hour (L/kWh). Specify the daily water usage in liters.   Carbon Usage Effectiveness: CUE is the ratio of total data center carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to IT equipment energy consumption. The CO2 emissions data is derived from the system configuration.   Historical PUE: The PUE of the data center infrastructure over a timeframe you choose in Configuration, displayed as a rolling average.   Subsystem Costs: The cost of each subsystem in the data center infrastructure based on the energy cost per kWh input. To improve readability, the values in the table are rounded. All calculations are performed prior to rounding, so small differences may occur in the rounded values.

Configure Azure for IT Advisor SAML SSO

Go to https://portal.azure.com and log in to your account.   Select the Microsoft Entra ID option.   In the Basic information section, click the number next to Applications.     If you have already added your IT Advisor application, click New registration and add the following web redirect URIs:   https://address of ITA server/api/current/authentication/saml2-callback/desktop https://address of ITA server/api/current/authentication/saml2-callback   Azure accepts these URIs as destinations when returning authentication responses (tokens) after successfully authenticating or signing out users.   You will enter these URIs when you configure SAML SSO in IT Advisor.   Select your IT Advisor application from the list. Click Endpoints. In the Essentials section, copy the values for the Application (client) ID and the Directory (tenent) ID.   You will enter these values when you configure SAML SSO in IT Advisor.       In the Endpoints list, copy the URL for Federation metadata document into a browser.   Find IDPSSODescriptor/KeyDescriptor/KeyInfo/ X509Data/X509Certificate and copy the value.   You will enter this value when you configure SAML SSO in IT Advisor.   To complete the SAML SSO configuration, log in to IT Advisor. See Configure SAML 2.0 SSO in IT Advisor

Using the PUE/DCiE (24 hr average) tab

See the results of the PUE/DCiE configuration expressed as a graph on the PUE/DCiE (24hr average) tab available from the IT Advisor web client Dashboard menu.   The PUE/DCiE (24 hr average) graph shows the calculated PUE/DCiE based on measured data collected on a daily basis according to the configuration in the ITA desktop client Planning > PUE/DCiE Configuration option. See Configuring the PUE DCiE   The PUE graph shows the calculated PUE based on measured data collected on a daily basis. When you add a sensor to the calculations, the data collected from this sensor the previous day, if any, is included in the calculations immediately.   When you add a newly-installed sensor, its value will be included in the calculations once the data collection has run for 24 hours or at least since before the previous midnight.   If you are using PUE as the metric, the graph shows the PUE up to 5. If the calculated PUE is greater than 5, the calculated value is displayed and the dial shows the maximum value possible (5). If you are using DCiE as thr metric, the value is shown as a percentage. Note: You can toggle the metric between PUE and DCiE in the desktop client in Tools > Preferences > General.   For information about the energy efficiency concepts used on the dashboard, such as Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency (DCiE), go to the Green Grid   Schneider Electric white papers   Electrical Efficiency Measurement for Data Centers DCOI Compliance: A Guide to Improving PUE in U.S. Federal Data Centers Continuous Metering and Monitoring of PUE in Data Centers Calculating Total Power Requirements for Data Centers Guidance for Calculation of Efficiency (PUE) in Data Centers

Dashboards

Use the ITA web client's Dashboard menu to get an overview of your data center KPIs for the Power History, PUE (24 hour), and Sustainability metrics (formerly Energy Efficiency) data for the equipment you can access.   You will see one chart per top level item (room, cage, or rack).   Tip: Bookmark the dashboard in your browser or keep it running on a separate screen.     Power history 106206623_558x250_360037928454.png
