Time shift in logical encoder

Hi,

We are using LMC078 motion controller for controlling 12 axis.In our project softMotion encoder acts as the master for cam motion slaves. We can add a logical encoder below softmotion encoder and can make this logical encoder as master for the slaves. Can anyone tell me where we have to use logical encoder than softmotion encoder. What is the significance of logical encoder.

I try to answer your questions.

1. Significance of SoftMotion Drive Logical
   The axis of the logical drive "copy" the movement of the master axis but is a separate object / instance. This allows to manipulate the object without influencing the master axis. E.g. you can execute a SetPos on the logical drive without influencing the master axis.
2. Time Shift
   The number of cycles defines the time gap that the set-values of the master will be extrapolated.
