M172P* BACnet - attempting to edit device object name results in Write Access denied

Hi,

I am setting up BACnet on TM172PDG18R. I have created a device object with the following properties

After downloading the project, and connecting via Yabe, the device appears correctly.

If I attempt to change the Object Name of the Device Object, I receive an 'ERROR_CODE_WRITE_ACCESS_DENIED'.

Document EIO0000004776 06/2022 'BACnet Application Notes' indicates that this property is writable.

If I go into the Configuration pane of ESME HVAC, I can edit the register associated, and the object name in Yabe will change.

Does mean that the object name is only available for edit via Modbus or via programming on the IEC-side?

Hello,

string properties of BACnet objects can be modified from IEC code or via Modbus in case they are published also through this protocol, they can't be modified from BACnet BMS.

BACnet requires UTF-8 chars while M172 and IEC code supports ASCII from Programming, so the only way to be compliant with BTL is to have read only strings from BACnet side
