Lexium 17 compatible with Lexium 15?

We have some high-speed servo induction conveyors running off Lexium 15 (LXM15MD56N4) Servo Drives. These are now obsolete, and difficult to source, but we have some Lexium 17's on the shelf (MHDA1056N00).

Can anyone foresee a problem with swapping out at Lexium 15 for a 17 in the event of a failure?

I have not worked on either of these drives but looking at the manuals it does not look like they are compatible.

The Lexium 17D servo drives are intended to drive BPH and SER series brushless servo motors.

The Lexium 15 servo drives are intended to drive BDH and BSH series brushless servo motors.

If you send some more information we can advise you further:

1. Part Number of Servo Motor

2. How is the servo drive controlled?  Communication Network?  If so what protocol?

3. What motion controller is used for the application?

4. Do you have the source code for the motion controller?

I know that all the motors in our system are BPH1902N5MA2CA1. Both those that are controlled by Lexium 15's and Lexium 17's.

The Lexium 17D servo drives are intended for incorporation into electrical equipment or machinery and can only be commissioned as integral components of those types of devices. Tim Hortons Survey

They are controlled through IO.

Nothing fancy, no comms, no analog. Off the top of my head its 4 IO per drive and just used regular PLC5 IO.
