IE Mode in Microsoft Edge

It is possible to use Internet Explorer compatibility within Microsoft's Edge web browser.

This guide is currently in note form, and gathers together the links and guidance from Microsoft. Check the links below carefully to ensure you have the correct version of Edge which supports IE Mode.

Steps:

To check IE mode status, go to Diagnostics page:

edge://compat/iediagnostic

The guide instructs you to create a sites.xml file:

Documents\sites.xml

                EnterpriseSitelistManager        10240        20150729.135021                    IE11    

Edit Group Policy settings as below:

Then set to Internet Explorer mode:

Check site list filename:

Then recheck the page:

edge://compat/iediagnostic

The Internet Explorer mode information must be present.

After a Windows update: 

You must see the Enterprise Mode Site Iist.

Then go to the WebX page and the page will load, with an explorer icon to the left of the address bar.
