On some versions of Windows, you will need to manually enable disk performance monitoring manually by using the DISKPERF utility. The Logical Disk properties are only available when disk performance monitoring has been enabled. If disk performance monitoring is not enabled on the machine you wish to monitor, then the Logical Disk group will not be available for selection when configuring performance monitor points.
To enable disk performance monitoring on your PC:
In Windows, access the MS DOS command prompt.
At the prompt, enter:
DISKPERF /?
Press the Enter key.
The disk performance monitoring help options are displayed.
At the prompt, enter:
DISKPERF -YV \\computername
Where computername is the name of the Windows machine on which you want to enable disk performance monitoring.
For example:
DISKPERF -YV \\TAPC04
will enable disk performance monitoring on a PC named TAPC04.
Press the Enter key.
Close the command prompt and re-start the PC.
When the PC starts up again, it will have disk performance monitoring enabled and you will be able to select the Logical Disk options in the Tag field on the performance monitor analog point's form. For displaying a server's available memory on a Mimic, you need to configure the performance monitor scanner to monitor the server, then configure the performance monitor analog point so that it has the % Free Space property for the Tag setting. On the Mimic, you will then need to create an animation that displays the value of the performance monitor point.
