ClearSCADA 2014 R1 Known Issues

📖 Home  Back
Please read the information below prior to installing SCADA Expert ClearSCADA 2014 R1 for important information on any known issues.

User Interface

ViewX "All Window" Favourites (issue reference: SUP-8510 and SUP-8246)

The following issues have been identified regarding All Window Favourites (aka Super Favourites), whereby the windows are not restored as saved. Specifically:

  • The Tab Order is not preserved when saving/restoring the favourites, but instead a default Tab Order is used.

  • The Screen Layout is not preserved when saving/restoring the favourites, such that any personalisation of the screen layout to provide horizontal- or vertical-tiling is not remembered and all windows are restored within a single tab group.

  • When using multiple Window Containers within a multi-monitor configuration, all windows within a Secondary Window Container are not restored to the Secondary Container, but instead are restored to the Primary Container alongside any existing Primary Window Container windows.

  • Inset Windows are not restored, but instead only the Main Window is restored.

Performance of Locate... Operations

Databases that have an excessive number of objects, or objects within a flat database hierarchy, may experience delays when attempting to execute one of the following:
  • Locate in Database Explorer

  • Locate in OPC Explorer

  • Locate Template

  • Locate in Template

These delays may cause ViewX to display a 'busy' icon while this action is performed, but should remain responsive for further user input. Once the executed action is complete, the respective Database or OPC Explorer will display the target object.

Command Line Parameters

The command line parameter "/head:" has been removed. This has been replaced by "/instance:" for multiple instances, and with "/startup:" for enhanced multi-monitor functionality, where is the location of a startup configuration file. Guidance on migrating between the old ViewX command line parameters and the new multi-monitor options is available in the ViewX Upgrade Notes.
More information on the improved multi-monitor support can be found within the ClearSCADA 2014 R1 online help guide under: Core Reference > Client Administration > Client Administration Guide - Launch a ViewX Client on a Multi-Monitor Setup.

Maximum Windows Limitation

ViewX now enforces a maximum limit of 100 open windows. Any system previously configured for 0 (and hence unlimited) windows will now be set to 100. Attempts to exceed the configured limit will result in normal Maximum Window behaviour requesting a user to close an existing window to proceed.

Time Format Symbols

The following time format symbols are no longer supported in ViewX due to their inconsistency with the .NET Time Format. This does not impact the operation of the ClearSCADA Server or the validity of any time/date formatting, but any use of the following time format symbols should be removed to ensure correct display of date/time to the user:
  Symbol   Meaning   Presentation   Example
  e   day of week (1~7)   (Number)   2
D   day of year   (Number)   189
F   day of week in month   (Number)   2
w   week in year   (Number)   27
W   week in month   (Number)   2
  k   hour in day (1~24)   (Number)   24
  K   hour in am/pm (0~11)   (Number)   0

User Specific Settings

When upgrading from previous versions of ClearSCADA any user-specific VIewX display settings will be lost. This includes, but is not limited to; layout of Toolbars, width/visibility of the Database and other Explorers, and the position of the Alarm Banner.

Regional Localization Settings

This initial release of ClearSCADA 2014 R1 contains full support for English language only.
Existing installations with user localization settings other than English will be presented with a mixture of English and non-English language after upgrading to ClearSCADA 2014 R1. It is recommended that users with multi-language or non-English language installations do not upgrade to ClearSCADA 2014 R1 until full language localization is available within the first Service Pack.

HTML Help

SCADA Expert ClearSCADA 2014 R1 contains the new HTML version of the Online Help. On Windows Server 2003 machines, when starting the Online Help from any of the applications (ViewX, Server Status, Server Configuration etc.) for the first time, there may be a display issue with the topics displayed in the drop down list next to the Search option. This problem should disappear when the application is restarted.

Installer

On a clean installation of SCADA Expert ClearSCADA 2014 R1, the classes for OPCDA, OPCAE and OPCHDA are not registered. The user would need to open the Client Configuration dialog and click OK on the configured connection for the classes to be registered. This was changed to add support for the Systems.xml file.

Support for Internet Explorer 9/10/11

The following problems were identified:
  • When clicking on the 'List All Objects' from a class information page in the database schema, the list of objects may not display correctly. This is a problem with the Internet Explorer's XSL transformation related to elements with content and children.

  • Script functions such as 'Mimic.OpenInset' and 'App.OpenWindow' may not display properly on IE9/10/11.

  • Hyperlinks to lists may not display correctly due to the cross site scripting security filter in Internet Explorer. This also includes links to trends generated using the TrendSpec specification in ClearSCADA. The workaround for this is to disable the Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) filter in the web browser.
