Re: Wiring PAS600L with NSX IFM

Original thread here:

https://community.se.com/t5/EcoStruxure-Power-Monitoring/Wiring-PAS600L-with-NSX-IFM/td-p/415514

Hello @AAB_ALPS ,

You can directly wire the IFM to the RS485 port of the Panel Server.

We do not have Instruction Sheet giving some wiring details.

Ca va demander du bricolage... Old versions of the IFMs were easier to wire.

Please read the IFM IS to learn more about the pinout of the RJ45 (Modbus SL 2 wires):

https://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_enDocType=Instruction+sheet&p_File_Name=NVE8539301-0...

You can also use the LV434211 as an adaptor:

Hi @Charles_Murison ! Can you move this topic to the Gateway section ? Thank.

PAS is only having screw terminal not RJ45 for serial modbus and you need a small screwdriver.

If you have multiple RJ45 there is the  splitter SE Tesys Lexium SD3 pretty convenient with wired terminals to the PAS or the Phoenix contact screw terminals to RJ45 adapter....

Hello @AAB_ALPS ,

I'm interested to have a feedback about your solution. How many IFM do you have connected to your Panel Server ?

@Guillaume_Evrard any experience with many IFMs connected to a PAS600/800 ?

One of our Panel Builder needs to connect up to 20 IFMs on the Panel Server (official recommendation is to limite 8x IFMs stacked to an IFE, but may apply to the PAS).

In theory, Panel Server can manage up to 32 Modbus serial devices. But IFM is not a pretty good device in term of communication performance. Customer will need to optimize the Modbus requests and use the IFM Dataset (need = read OF/SD status + Energy of Compact NSX).

Thanks.

Hello @Romain_Polette,

I would say it depends on the speed of the serial modbus link + number of frames to be collected with number of registers and time it takes to return the RS485 bus by the IFM and if customer would like to collect data not to control. 20 using predefined model at 19200bps might be hard to achieve....

Hello @Romain_Polette,

Unfortunately we did not select the PAS600 solution with IFM, because it was not "good solution" for my client. We are staying with the IFE and IFM solution.

********************************************************************

Malheureusement nous n'avons pas sélectionner la solution PAS600 avec IFM, car cela n'était pas assez "propre" pour notre client. Nous somme rester avec la solution IFE et IFM.

Best regards
