PROBLEM WITH PAS600 AND POWERTAG RECONNECTION

Hi all,

I am having trouble with a project involving a PAS600 Gateway and 5 NSX type PowerTags. We have installed 2 identical smart panels in a datacenter which are separated by around 15 inches from each other, you can see the layout in the picture below:

nicolasjacome_0-1732546265332.png

Each PAS600 (one on each panel) is connected to a Power Meter and a PLC via Modbus RTU and to an HMI via Modbus TCP. We have 3 TH110 sensors and 5 PowerTags connected as wireless devices.

Currently, we are having energy cuts due to a power crisis nationwide, so the panels lose energy 4 times a day for around 40-50 seconds. When the energy comes back (from the grid or a generator) some of the PowerTag sensos from both panels lose connection to the PAS600 and do not reconnect again. The communication via Modbus RTU and TCP does not seem affected, as well as the link to the TH110 sensors. It is only the PowerTags that have this problem.

We tried to solve this issue by connecting the PAS600 to a UPS in order to avoid it from powering off, but the problem keeps happening. The thing is that it is not the same sensors that lose connection every time, it seems to be random how many reconnect and which of them do not. One time we even waited around 20 minutes and all 5 sensors reconnected by themselves, but this has only happened once.

We are unsure whether this happens because of both panels being so close to each other and the requests from all 10 sensors interfere with each other and each PAS600 when the power is restablished, maybe the PowerTag sensors are not supposed to be powered on all simultaneously, or maybe it is because all 5 PowerTag sensors are too close to each other on each panel.

If anyone has seen this happen before I would appretiate any help that you can give me.

Thanks for the help!

Good morning,

You didn't mention the PowerTag type, or the Firmware Version of the PaS, currently V2.0.0

But that aside did you leave the Wireless Chanel Selection Mode in Automatic or select different channels for each PaS?

Have a look at Wireless Communication Architectures With EcoStruxure Panel Server Design Guide.

Consider if you havent already to select different channels for each PaS, I had a similar issue when commissioning PT and the PaS found the Distribution board above through a concrete floor and the DB metal enclosure doors shut.

Just a thought.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the tips, however we already did all that. We set each PAS to channels 8 and 23 respectively and still we had the same issue.

We are going to try updating the firmware version as we were using just one previous to V2.0.0.

The type of powertag used is LV434023. Would you say it is normal for them to stop connecting to the PAS for any reason at all? We are considering sending the powertags back and apply the warranty as we do not seem to get them working.

@Eric_HAVAS yes, we have also escalated this to CCC, but I want to keep this open just in case someone else has come across this situation.
