How to manually extract the data logged in a Com'X 200?

Hello,

We manage the energy consumption of a music festival, and in order to do this we installed some gateways on site.

Following a connectivity problem, we need to extract the data logged in a Com'X 200.

The only problem is that as the Com'X is not connected to the festival network anymore, so I am looking for a way to extract the data directly on my PC, like it's possible with the 510.

Is something feasible offline, or do I have to be connected and configure an export via FTP, SMTP...?

Thanks in advance for the help

Romain

Hi Romain,

I hope the festival was a good experience! The Com'X 200 does not support direct file export like the ComX510. However, you can setup your PC as an SMTP/FTP server to receive the files. Below I can show you a quick setup for SMTP on your PC.

1) Confirm your Com'X200 has Ethernet2 in DHCP Server Mode.

2) Connect your PC to Ethernet2 of the Com'X200, and check your PC's IP address.

3) Setup SMTP publication to your PC's IP address

4) Install Papercut (<--- link here) as a simple SMTP server on your PC

5) Perform a manual publication to your PC from your Com'X200

6) Click on the email you have received in Papercut, and select "Sections"

7) Right click on the file name and select "Save As" to save the exported file to your PC

Let me know if you run into any trouble.

Best Regards!

Colton Peltier

Hi Colton,

Thank you very much for your answer!

I haven't had the time to try your methodology yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I have tested it.

One last question: Do you know if it is planned to add direct file export to the Com'X200?

Thanks again and Best Regards,

Romain

Hi Romain,

There is currently no plan to add this functionality to the ComX200, as the ComX200 is meant to be a simple datalogging and publishing box only. The more complex functionality of extended data logging, and data management is handled in our portfolio by the ComX510.

Best Regards,

Colton

Hi Colton,

I had a few problems to apply your method, and I finally used that there is an alternative way, which was simpler for me.

I setup a FTP export to my PC using FileZilla Server.

I leave a brief explanation attached in case someone would need it.

Best Regards,

Romain
