Firmware Download Instructions for EGX300

Currently Running Firmware Version 3.7xx

Updating   to version 4.300 from version 3.7xx requires all data log files to be   converted internally.  This conversion   will be executed at the first boot after the download.  While converting the data log files, browsing   of the EGX will be limited to a page displaying the status of the conversion   until conversion is complete.    Depending on the size and number of the data log files this process   may take several minutes.

Before   downloading the firmware logging must be disabled.  It is recommended the user save all data log   files to external storage before downloading.    Refer to the EGX300 User’s Guide for instructions on how to disable   logging and remove data log files.

1.       Disable   Logging.

2.       Save   data log files to external storage (optional but recommended).

3.       Remove   data log files (optional but recommended).

4.       Transfer   the version 4.300 firmware file (egx04300.bin) to your computer.

5.       Use   FTP to copy the “egx04300.bin” file from your computer to the EGX300.  The status LED will flash rapidly while the   firmware is being programmed.  Do not remove power during this time.  Once the download is complete the EGX will   automatically reboot.  Refer to the   EGX300 User’s Guide if you need more information.

6.       Allow   the EGX to reboot after the firmware file transfer, then browse the EGX300   Diagnostic Statistics page and confirm V4.300 is displayed as the Firmware   Version in the Gateway Information section.

7.       After   confirming the firmware has been updated apply the V4.300 Disk Update.

Firmware Download Instructions for EGX300

4.       Transfer   the version 4.300 firmware file (egx04300.bin) to your computer.

5.       Use   FTP to copy the “egx04300.bin” file from your computer to the EGX.  The status LED will flash rapidly while the   firmware is being programmed.  Do not remove power during this time.  Once the download is complete the EGX will   automatically reboot.  Refer to the   EGX300 User’s Guide if you need more information.

6.       Allow   the EGX to reboot after the firmware file transfer then browse the EGX300   Diagnostic Statistics page and confirm 4.300 is displayed as the Firmware   Version in the Gateway Information section.

Hi James, I tried updating two of my EGX300 currently. With both of them Firmware upgrade (.bin) file worked well, however, while putting a update patch (.upd) file, it gave me below error "An error occurred copying a file to the FTP Server. Make sure you have permissionto put files on the server. Details: The Connection with the server was reset."

With the first one after several attempts, it was resolved and was able to update the patch. Not with the second one.

Hello Hastak.

How long did you wait before trying to apply the v4.300.upd disk update?  Perhaps this is the issue??  Once you copy the EGX300 firmware to the box via FTP...it needs to reboot the box.  You must wait for it to come back online before applying the patch in the same maner...once again, a reboot  I updated the EGX300 Demo Site this afternoon, and did not have any issues, but let me know what you find.

What do you see on the bottom left hand side of your EGX300?  Which Disk Image Version shows?

Thanks,

James

Hi James, Yes I did wait till it reboots. However since then I have been able to figure out the way and I have update 2 more EGXs since then.

What I did initially was copy both bin file and upd file in System folder, one after the other. But what I did now was copied the bin file in System folder and dropped the upd file in main ftp folder on EGX. And it works perfect!
