I have a customer who is looking for a figure in relation to the ftp transfer speeds for the EGX300.
I have explained that there will not likely be a specific figure as this will be determined greatly by the size of file and support network components.
He is happy with that, however the transfer speeds his is looking at do seem somewhat slower then what I would have expected.
I have tried testing this with the customers saved data here, however I believe the server is rejecting my attempts to transfer their files (I know its not something to do with credentials as I have been able to transfer other files).
Maybe it has something to do with the size of the files ?
Does anyone know of the expected ftp rate of transfer for the EGX300?
Thanks in advance!
Warm regards,
Evonne

Hi Evonne,
James is correct. FTP transfer speed is affected by a number of items. First, the speed of the actual connection to the EGX, usually 10 or 100 mbit/sec. Then there is the duplex (whether data can be sent in both directions at the same time). The number of hops between the EGX and the PC is another factor. And other traffic in general can slow down the transfer. The size of the file also plays a big part on how long the transfer takes.
Another thing to consider is that the EGX300 is writing to NAND flash, not a Hard drive. This process is also slow.
I hope this helps.

Thank you James and Randi,
I shall get back to him and explain further of what other factor which may contribute to the slow transfer.
