EGX100/300 - DeepSea generator controller
Hi,
There has always been a communication problem between a EGX100/300 to a DeepSea generator controller, I'm not sure what the problem is but they just don't like each other?
So what we have been doing over the years is removing the EGX100/300 and installing a Moxa Gateway. This works 100% and also this allows us to have the gen controller on the same power metering bus.
Is anyone else aware of this issue? If so is there a fix on the horizon because we would prefer to install Schneider Gateways than Moxa's?

Hi Nige,
according to my limited knowledge is has to due with the length of the serial frame. EGX gateway use 11 bits. Deepsea doesn't use 11 bits serial frame. This is causing problems w.r.t. gateway functionality.
Anybody with more technical knowledge please share.

Hi Nigel,
We are also finding this issue (with both EGX and also ION7350 as Gateway) communicating with DSE7320. What model of Moxa are you using?
Thanks

If the issue is due to the serial line frame format (10 / 11 bits),
This should not appears on Com'X 200 (EBX200).
This gateway follows by default the consystency rules of Modbus.org
This rule specifies that frame should always have 11 bits
That is to say that if you specifies the parity, as "none", you must set 2 stop bits.
As it is a =S= rules, the Com'X 200 uses it by default,
as a consequence, if you have configured a Com'X 200 with {8 bits, parity even and 1 stop bit},
and if you change the parity to "none", the Com'X 200 will automatically set the stop bit number to 2.
But afterthat, you can manually set again the stop bit number to 1.
As a summary, the Com'X 200 is compatible by default with modbus.org requirements, but is also opened to 3rd party devices.

Great stuff!
Will they consider this 3rd party support 10 bits for the egx100/300 gateways as well in future?

Hi all!
I'm having the same communication problem between an EGX100 and DSE7320 even with DSE335.
Exist a way to change the stop bits to EGX100 to make compatible with third party devices in order to solve the problem without to remove the Schneider's Gateway to put another brand?
Thanks to your prompt response!

Hi Adriana,
It is not possible to change the stop bits on the EGX100.
Best,
Colton

Hi Colton!
Could you suggest me the best and cheaper option by Schneider Electric to offer my customer?
We have that problem in two areas, one of them with 1 DSE7320 and another one with 2 DSE335 as you can see into the follow image
Best Regards,
Mariani
