Do we have comparsion chart for EGX100,200,300,400 and ComX?

Hi

I got a retrofit project with EGX200 and EGX400 installed 5 years ago. The facility manager would like to see a comparison chart with our obsolete, current and coming models. I would like to check if this kind of work has been done before. If not, I'll complete the comparison myself and upload later.

Thanks

I don't know much about the 200, however for the 400 and the 300, there's a lot of development that has been done for connectivity to new devices and to the cloud.

For example the EGX400 only supports SMTP to push data to the cloud, while the EGX300 supports SMTP, FTP, HTTP and HTTPS. It also has proxy supports to be able to get out of customer networks. So the EGX300 is more easy to use and more secure to push data to the cloud.

For the additional supported devices, obviously there's the full range of Schneider Electric's meters, but the EGX300 also supports custom device types in order to connect to any Modbus devices (Schneider or not).

For the EGX100, as you probably know, it's only a gateway to connect devices through Modbus TCP.

Finally the Com'X200 is the master in terms of communication since it also supports GPRS and Wifi. It's also a lot easier to install (hardware and software wise). For example, the power supply is embedded, it's running DHCP and can be a Wifi Access Point.... etc.. etc... The only thing the Com'X200 does not have today is the gateway function (that will come later) and the possibility to do graphics (that will be the 500).

Hope it helps a little bit. There's for sure way more that can be said....

Abon Chen:

One of the main considerations when upgrading systems from EGX200/400 Gateways is that these units have two serial ports.  The second port can be used several ways.

NOTE #1:

If the customer needs to replace this series with newer units they will often need two new gateways and IP addresses.  This will be true if they are using both ports.  There is a web viewable look up table in the 200/400 to redirect IP requests if port #2 is used.  Get into this and take screen shots so you can tell what devices are on what ports.

NOTE #2

If there are PowerLogic protocol devices the customer will likely need to use the Link 150 gateway over the ComX line.  On paper the Link 150 still supports PowerLogic protocol and four wire communication.  I have one in my lab and will be testing this assumption this week as time allows.

If you wish, please describe your concerns.  I have walked several customers through this process with success.

Sincerely,

Michael Franz
